Designing checkout flows that actually convert

Most stores lose buyers in the last three steps. These are the checkout patterns we test first when an e-commerce client asks us to lift conversion.

By the time someone reaches checkout they've already decided to buy. The job of the checkout is simple: don't talk them out of it.

Remove every surprise

Unexpected shipping costs are one of the most common reasons carts get abandoned. Show delivery cost and timing on the product page, not at the final step.

Ask for less

  • Offer guest checkout — accounts can come after the order
  • Autofill addresses and remember returning customers
  • Only ask for a phone number if you'll actually use it

Payment methods matter — For Indian customers, UPI and wallets alongside cards can make a noticeable difference — offer what your buyers already use.

Make trust visible

Clear return policies, secure-payment signals and real contact details reassure first-time buyers at the exact moment they hesitate.

Every field you remove is a reason to leave that you've taken away.
